Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the group of players following the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
He was omitted from a European match subsequent to making accusations and claiming his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has refused to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
Jones also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the situation. He feels the Salah's words were never meant to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a good place,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, getting results and starting to win games.”
