Six Suspects Apprehended After €12M Robbery on Gold Processing Laboratory in France

Six armed perpetrators carrying military-grade weapons employed explosives to force entry into a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, causing light wounds to five employees during what appears to be the newest significant daytime heist to occur in the nation.

The daring raid was carried out on Thursday late morning, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the suspected perpetrators and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth 12 million euros (£10.5 million), officials reported.

Five staff members of Laboratoires Pourquery sustained minor injuries as a result of the detonation, and three individuals were transported to hospital for assessment, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight workers were at the location when the robbers attacked.

The individuals, believed to be career criminals, were arrested shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, according to investigative sources.

A woman involved involved in the heist was also apprehended, a police source indicated.

“Six individuals who utilized explosives in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in the Lyon area were apprehended red-handed,” the French interior minister declared on social media, praising officers for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were recovered as well.

The robbery occurred as French police on the same day detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in connection with this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Dozens of investigators have been hunting four robbers who utilized a lorry featuring an elevating platform and cutting tools to breach a first-floor gallery at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, fleeing with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.

In a separate high-profile case, thieves last month broke into the Parisian museum of natural history, making off with gold samples estimated at exceeding $1M. A woman from China, aged 24 was apprehended in the current month in Barcelona in relation to the burglary, prosecutors stated.

The string of thefts has raised concerns in the nation regarding inadequate security measures at museums and various establishments holding high-value objects.
